Positive Psychology at Work

Positive Psychology is the science of optimal functioning and studies what it takes to thrive. It’s a  practical science with a range of evidence-based tools to help teams and organisations to flourish.

The aim of Positive Psychology at Work is to create a positive work environment where employees feel engaged, supported, productive and resilient. This can be achieved by focusing on strengths, wellbeing, positive relationships and the growth mindset. The approach helps develop psychological capital, a human resource which leads to people experiencing greater hope, optimism, self-efficacy, and resilience, resulting in higher job satisfaction, better performance and a greater ability to cope with workplace challenges. Positive psychology is also about resilience and how to maintain wellbeing in tough times.

Benefits of Positive Psychology in the Workplace

There is a strong link between wellbeing at work and productivity. This is known as the Happiness Advantage, which describes the relationship between wellbeing and success. Higher wellbeing leads to greater success. 25+ years of research shows that wellbeing at work increases every desired organisational outcome.

“Miriam is a real expert in her field. She has trained me and she is excellent.” Melanie Franklin, Director, Agile Change Management Ltd

“We worked with Miriam to create a series of virtual sessions underpinned by the PERMA model. The sessions were engaging, inspiring, thought provoking and we got lots of unsolicited positive feedback from the team after every session.  As a global team (c. 35 people in about 9 locations around the world) going through the global pandemic, this was a wonderful way to come together, collectively learn and focus on our wellbeing. Miriam has been a complete joy to work with – she’s knowledgeable, creative, collaborative and is a true expert in her field. Nothing was too much trouble and she really shaped the sessions bearing in mind the needs of the team. We highly recommend her.” Amy Brand – Global HR partner, Swiss Re: Veronica Scotti – Chairperson, Public Sector Solutions, Swiss Re.

“THANK YOU so much Miriam for such a wonderful and well-thought-out session. The team was really happy, and I think the engagement demonstrated that.” Head of IT Ops.

“Miriam is an excellent trainer, and I look forward to learning more from her in the future. Her personable, objective, clear and open style of relating provided the ideal model for participants’ own hopes of substantial and positive change.”

“Anyone interested in positive psychology and what it can bring to the workforce or indeed your own personal growth should attend Miriam’s workshop. ” Laura Dumpleton, Senior HR Partner.

“I enjoyed your training last week, a very good overview of the field, delivered in an upbeat style.”

“Please thank Miriam for a great two days and for sharing her time, experience, knowledge and expertise. I found it very thought-provoking and useful on a personal and professional level. It fitted so well with our strengths-based approach and added some useful tools for building optimism and positivity.

I thought it was a packed two days but well-structured and delivered in a way which made us think about our own approach to life and work and consider the evidence around positive change.

I will let things settle over the next week or so and will be feeding back to my team. I feel sure that I will be taking things forward in my work with clients and colleagues.”

“Having recently attended as a delegate on a Positive Psychology Workshop that Miriam delivered to my team at the Defence Leadership Centre, I would thoroughly recommend her professionalism. From my experience, Miriam’s training will be well delivered, captivating, insightful, and very importantly in learning, enjoyable!” Commander Karl Santrian, Head of Intrinsic Leadership and Behaviours Team, Defence Academy of Great Britain.
